Privacy Policy
Last updated: July 20, 2026
YamuGo Inc (“YamuGo,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) operates the YamuGo mobility platform and the YamuGo rider and driver applications (the “Platform”). We are based in Ontario, Canada, and we handle personal information in accordance with Canada’s Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA) and other applicable privacy laws. This Privacy Policy explains what we collect, how we use and share it, and the choices you have. By using the Platform, you consent to the practices described here.
1. Information we collect
We collect the following categories of personal information:
- Account & profile: name, email address, mobile phone number, password (hashed), profile photo, and role (rider or driver).
- Verification & driver details: information needed to verify your identity and, for drivers, licence, vehicle, and related details.
- Trip & location: pickup and drop-off points, routes, and location during an active trip to enable matching, navigation, and safety features.
- Payment: processed by our payment provider (Stripe). We do not store full card numbers; we receive limited transaction and status information.
- Usage & device: app interactions, device and log data, identifiers, and cookies or similar technologies (see our Cookie Policy).
- Communications: messages you send us and records of support requests.
2. How we use information
- create, secure, and manage your account and verify your phone number;
- match riders and drivers and coordinate, navigate, and complete trips;
- process payments, subscriptions, and payouts;
- send account and trip communications by SMS and email (see our SMS & Opt-In page);
- provide customer support and respond to your requests;
- maintain safety, prevent fraud and abuse, and enforce our terms;
- comply with legal obligations and improve the Platform.
We rely on your consent, the performance of our contract with you, our legitimate business interests, and legal obligations as the bases for processing, consistent with PIPEDA.
3. SMS / text messaging
With your consent, we send transactional SMS related to your account and trips — such as one-time login codes, booking confirmations, driver-arrival alerts, and trip-status updates. Message frequency varies and message and data rates may apply. You can opt out at any time by replying STOP, or get help by replying HELP.
No mobile information or SMS/text-messaging opt-in data and consent is sold, rented, or shared with third parties or affiliates for their marketing or promotional purposes. We may share information with service providers who work on our behalf (for example, our SMS delivery provider) solely to deliver the service; SMS opt-in consent is never shared with third parties for their own marketing.
4. How we share information
We share personal information only as needed:
- Between matched users: limited information (such as name, photo, and trip details) is shared between a rider and driver as necessary for the trip.
- Service providers: trusted providers who process data on our behalf — for example, hosting, mapping, messaging, and payment providers — bound by contract to protect it and use it only for the services they provide to us.
- Legal & safety: where required by law, to respond to lawful requests, or to protect the rights, safety, and property of users or the public.
- Business transfers: in connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, subject to this Policy.
We do not sell your personal information.
5. Advertising and the ad-supported option
YamuGo offers an optional, opt-in ad-supported experience. Ads are OFF by default and are never shown unless you choose to turn them on. If you opt in, we use Google AdMob to serve ads within the app. You can opt out at any time in the app (Profile → “Free with ads”), which stops ads on your next app refresh.
When ads are enabled for your account, Google AdMob may collect and process:
- Advertising identifiers & device data: your device advertising ID and related device and usage information, used to serve, measure, cap the frequency of, and (with your consent) personalize ads.
- Approximate location & app activity: coarse signals used for ad relevance and measurement, as described in Google’s policies.
We never show ads while a driver is online or on an active trip, ads are limited to an age-appropriate content rating, and sensitive ad categories are blocked. We do not sell your personal information.
Your controls. On iOS we request App Tracking Transparency permission before any personalized advertising; if you decline, you will only see non-personalized ads. Where required (for example in the EEA/UK), we present a consent choice through Google’s User Messaging Platform. You can also reset or limit your advertising ID in your device settings, and turn off the ad-supported experience entirely in the app at any time.
Google acts as an independent advertising provider; its handling of data collected through AdMob is governed by Google’s Privacy Policy (policies.google.com/privacy) and Google’s advertising policies. We share only the data necessary to serve ads as described above.
6. International transfers
We and our service providers may store or process information in Canada and other countries (for example, the United States). Where information is transferred outside your province or country, it may be subject to the laws of those jurisdictions; we take reasonable steps to ensure it remains protected consistent with this Policy.
7. Data retention
We retain personal information for as long as your account is active and as needed to provide the Platform, comply with legal, tax, and accounting obligations, resolve disputes, and enforce our agreements. When information is no longer needed, we take reasonable steps to delete or de-identify it.
8. Security
We use reasonable administrative, technical, and physical safeguards designed to protect personal information, such as encryption in transit, access controls, and hashed passwords. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
9. Your rights & choices
Subject to applicable law, you may:
- access, review, and update your account information in the app;
- request access to, correction of, or deletion of your personal information;
- withdraw consent (including replying STOP to SMS), subject to legal or contractual limits;
- control location, notification, and cookie permissions through your device or browser;
- ask questions or make a complaint by contacting us below.
Under PIPEDA you also have the right to escalate an unresolved concern to the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada.
10. Children
The Platform is not directed to individuals under 18, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a minor has provided us information, please contact us and we will take appropriate steps to delete it.
11. Changes to this Policy
We may update this Policy from time to time. We will revise the “Last updated” date above and, where appropriate, provide additional notice. Your continued use of the Platform after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the updated Policy.
12. Contact us
If you have questions or requests regarding this Policy or your personal information, contact YamuGo Inc, Ontario, Canada, at [email protected].
